Spent some time out in west Texas for Thanksgiving. I thought it was gorgeous out there and it got me thinking of all the movies set in Texas and how romanticized it is. What are some of your favorite Texas movies? No Country for Old Men is of course a recent favorite. Anybody got any old classics?

By far the best movie mentioned in this thread, and one of my favorite movies ever.

This is technically set in Northwest Texas (but filmed in Utah/Arizona):

A pretty decent movie about a petroleum landman out of Midland - didn't get much play, but don't pass up a chance to see it.

I always mentally associate The Searchers with Monument Valley even though the script is in fact set in Texas

Was filmed in and around Austin.

No one knows what town Dazed and Confused was supposed to be set at-some say Austin, others say Houston, others Tyler. The writer went to SHSU in Huntsville, but went to high school in Houston.
