Stephon Gilmore?

I'm watching the SC/Clemson game and SC freshman CB Stephone Gilmore(who was also a duel threat QB in high school) ran a series of plays which also included a long pass, as a new wrinkle to the SC offense. I'm sure they've probably been working on this in practice all year long, but that's irrelevent to this post. It just puzzles me why we've NEVER used RS for a whole series OR let him at LEAST throw some short lobs or ANY kind of "safe throws" up to this point.
