Can everyone agree that Miles has to win the West in 2010?

If he doesn't he must go. Many (including myself) would rather him gone now but would his supporters agree with do or die in the West next year?

i can't just say this, esp with 2 real OOC games next year

i mean that he could win the west and lose to WV and UNC, and i wouldn't say, "great job les"

Not just the West.

He needs to win the SEC, IMO.

If we win the SEC title next year, you would really not be able to compliment our coach?

No, I dont think he has to win the West, but he has to compete on a higher level and NOT lose games like this last one was lost. We could lose 1 game next year and still not win it. You nor anybody else knows how the West plays out next year. Why would you fire a coach that only had one loss?

if we win the west while going 5-3 in the SEC and 0-2 versus UNC and WVU, I wouldnt be happy.

Conversely if LSU went 7-1 in the west and 2-0 against UNC and WVU, but Bama went 8-0, I would be thrilled

Nope. Too many things can happen to make such a statement.

What if LSU goes 11-1, with that lone loss to an SEC west team who goes undefeated in the SEC.

Or what if we go 7-5 with 3 conference losses, but like 2001, 5-3 is good enough to win the west. Then we get destroyed in the SECCG.

Are you kidding ? Slow is only excited about LSU football when its struggling. He's happier than pigs in slop right now.

So, we could effectively go 10-2, lose to Auburn and Tennessee, but beat Florida and Alabama, and you'd fire him if we didn't win the west?

He could beat Florida and lose to Bama, not win the West and be just fine.

a couple of scenarios IMO:

1. LSU loses to Arky and the bowl, finishes 8-5. The pressure on Les would be massive. He'd have to win 10 games next year and at least win or finish 2nd in the west to keep his job.

2. LSU beats Arky and blows blows out bowl opponent to finish 10-3. Les is safe for 2010 if he wins 8 games IMO.

I agree. Win it or hit the road! If he doesn't it will be a recruiting killer.

I say yes, excuses will be gone... Co-Def coord gone, offensive staff gone (hopefully), a quarterback with a full season under belt. I think the biggest concern will be if we have a dominant oline/dline next year. Thats been the glaring weakness.

If Crowton is OC at LSU....it will never happen.

I want him gone now, but saying he has to win the West is a bit much. Hell we went 10-2 (reg season) in 06 and didn't win the west. I think he has to win 9 in the reg. season at least. I think we'll do that if not better and that ultimately we're stuck with him for a while.

I am a supporter (not defender necessarily), but I am not blind. Even before 2010, I would like to see the team end the season on a solid note. Next year, it's not an ultimatim to win the West, but it had better be at least damn close with a solid performance all season.

I do believe that the most important statistic, far about all others, is the won-loss record. When you start losing though, your wins come under a helluva lot more scrutiny.

The goal of LSU is to be and maintain an elite status in the SEC and nationally. You can't do that at 9-3/8-4 with very mediocre performance all season.
