Is Les Miles really Dale Brown in disguise?
Posted by alumni95 on 11/23/09 at 10:10 am00
There is a story from the '87 Final Four when LSU is up with seconds left, with the ball and a sure bet for the championship game. Brown pulls a bonehead move and we lose the game. After the game when Indiana coach Bobby Knight is questioned, he says (paraphrased), "I looked at the other bench, saw Dale Brown and I knew we would be OK." I'm thinking Houston Nutt knows the feeling.
My thoughts on Miles that have been vocalized over the last few YEARS:
-CONSISTENT poor game management
-if under Saban (ex-DB) our strength was cornerback, is it not logical for O-line to be our strength (focus point) under Miles
-Miles looks like a checkers player at a chess match
-Miles looks like a fan at the game as much as a coach. Enjoys each play, then and only THEN begins to ponder "OK, wonder what we need to do now?"

The more I see of him, I can't help but think the most accurate of these kinds of a comparisons is Les Miles and Wade Phillips.

"Czar of SEC basketball"
Pretty sure he was the "Dean" not so much a czar.
LMAO, I said the same thing Sat night
Remember Bobby Knight being asked if he was worried when Indiana was down to LSU and he said, no, because he looked down the bench and saw Dale Brown.
That is what the LSU football program is ... no respect because no one fears our coach

What evidence have you seen from Miles that would indicate he could have done what Dale did when he first got here -- essentially CREATE a program?

I concur with the previous post, this is a terrible insult to Dale Brown!

agreed... plenty of faulty logic. Dale deserves his props. Just the blown X's & O's is eerily similar. Should have just posted the Bobby Knight quote which is so fitting.
quote:
Yes. Les Miles has multiple SEC titles and is the SEC's 2nd all-time winningest football coach.
funny... I thought that was Johnny Vaught.
(interesting side note: Fulmer is #6 and Tubs is #8.)
And Brown won multiple SEC titles and blew TREMENDOUS offensive talent. 1990: Shaq, Stanley, CJ, Mo, & Vernell.
your point?
