Dallas interested in Miles???
Posted by Brendoni on 11/17/09 at 10:03 am00
not sure how true this is, but he does have ties
Dallas Cowboys:
Sources tell FootballCoachScoop that owner Jerry Jones is very interested in the idea of Les Miles, Head Coach at LSU, as his next Head Coach of the
Cowboys.

Earlier this week they were saying Dallas wanted Urban. Just another piece in the rumor mill.

Wait wait wait. That was posted BEFORE the La Tech game. Clearly no longer in consideration after that game. That game proved how terrible he is as a coach.

yep, he's a terrible coach that no NFL team would consider....wait . i think LSU will be fine, my only concern is JJ being out this weekend.

no NFL team would seriously consider miles
he's old, has no coordinator experience in the NFL (and only a very limited coordinator career in college), and doesn't have any of the characteristics of a good NFL coach

Very fair analysis Slow.
However, as much as I love Miles as our coach, I don't disagree with you about him not being a viable candidate for an NFL job. But the one place he may actually be considered would be Dallas. Good connections there, and Jerry loves someone he feels he would able to push around.

if signing free agents involved having a sitdown with their parents, after a year of (what would be illegal in teh NFL) contact with the FA, then he'd be a great coach

i don't think he would make it in the pros either, but i wouldn't be shocked if Jerry Jones did contact Miles/his agent.

Frankly, Miles could be like Barry Switzer. Someone who is not all that polished nor keen on the old x's an o's but could function as a ceo and be a good player's coach. Not sure what kind of success that would translate into, as I think Switzer was just lucky in his early years there. (kinda how Miles is perceived at LSU come to think of it. )
Jerry hired Barry Switzer so nothing is outside the realm of possibility but I HIGHLY doubt he would do this...the scrutiny at the very least would prevent this.
Much like with Brady I think people in the know know Miles is not a elite level type coach...Brady was able to use the final four run and some fake outside interest to get a nice raise/extension but most intelligent bball people knew he would end up somewhere like Arky St if he ever tested the market.
Miles would end up at another mid-level (not low level like Brady) job at best unless it was a alma mater connection at Michigan or a retarded Jerry Jones brain fart type thing. He will never have the big boys banging down his door.

as a cowboys fan, I would rather have Miles over Meyer any day. Les's style translates better to the pro game.
Wait till you take away Tebow from Urban and see how good they are.
I don't think Meyer would be highly successful in the NFL
