He's Saban writ large!

AH! OOH!

We can only hope for a stalemate.

Let's forfeit!

(I hope the LSU offensive lineman and fullbacks get just as motivated as I do when I read this fawning hagiography. I also hope Charles Scott stiff arms McClain to the ground, breaks his clavicle, steps on his jugular, and leaves a trail of bloody footprints all the way to the endzone. Let's play some f*cking football, Tigers.)

Sorry, but McClain awfully damned impressive. I have wathced him this year and that kid has "IT".

While I detest Bama as a foe of LSU, I respect and admire high character talent.....McClain is one.

Scott will lose going toe to toe......the one person who can beat McClain is Les Miles.

Maybe, but Coach Miles doesn't have any eligibility left.

Nice thought, but then the SEC would make him sit out the first half of the La Tech game.

Yeah, well, a lot of players appear to have "IT"...until they get punched in the mouth by superior talent.

Brady Quinn appeared to have IT...until the LSU defense swallowed him whole.

Malcolm Jenkins appeared to have IT...until the LSU WR's made him look pedestrian.

The GT offense was supposedly an unstoppable, disciplined machine...until LSU dismantled it.

So, in sum, f*ck IT. No player is unblockable.

This statement could be amazingly brilliant or clueless, not sure which yet.

You forgot gouging his eyes out. NEVER forget about eye gouging. Puts a guy on the sidelines for about the next 70 years, and Scott only has to sit out the first half of the Louisiana Tech game.

I still say the way to minimize his effect on the game is to use his aggressiveness to OUR advantage. Let him come whole hog into the line to stop the run with good play action, then drop a pass or two right to the spot he was vacating before he went hauling arse into the line.

Of course (and I've stated this before), I haven't seen any quick short dump passes over the middle since Crowton has been at LSU. Hopefully he'll pull those pages of the playbook out of his parakeet's cage and run some of them this weekend.

mtntiger,

I have thought about the same thing, but this may not be a workable plan, as Saban's defenses tend to work a zone blitz that will fill that open spot of the field that the blitzer leaves behind him. Sometimes in the form of a spy who watches for that same dump pass.

This relies heavily on great execution of each player's role, which is why we always heard him driving the point home on players having to execute properly on defense....

I am guessing that Crowton has seen this as well, but who knows.

3-4 scheme really protects the LBs from the O-line. With the horses on Bama's front line this year, it makes the LBs job much easier.

At his height, size, and playing ability along with the NFL's obsession with the 3-4 defense, I can easily see McClain coming out this year as a first round pick. I don't think he will go unless it is a projected high first round.

He's going to get walled off on runs by our pulling guards, Dworaczyk and Hitt, going upfield, and then he'll feel stupid...

Not really. It protects the LBs from having to cover too much ground, but with only 3 D-linemen, the LBs better be able to take on O-linemen and fullbacks all on their own.
