Vikes will be competition for Home field
Posted by northeasttiger on 11/1/09 at 6:19 pm00
so Favre and the Vikes will be right on the Saints heels. Need the win over falcons. Need Vikes to drop game to Green Bay to give us some breathing room.
Might take 14-2 or so to get home field. Vikes look good.

Yeah, we saw how that worked out in 2000 now didn't we?

I was really hoping for a Green Bay victory today. The Vikings scare me more than any other team in the NFC. That's for sure.

It would suck for Vikings if they went 15-1 and Saints went 16-0, Vikes would have to come to New Orleans. ;)

As long as it is a dome team we are great. Just not the Bears or Giants

I think we get home field advantage by at least 2 games when all is said and done.

Vikes schedule is actually slightly easier than Saints.
We have Dallas, Atlanta twice, NE, and improving Carolina twice.
They have Arizona, NYG, Chicago twice, Seattle, Carolina

you neglect to mention we also have two against the Bucs and one against the Rams and Redskins

Favre's arm will wear down toward the end of the season. They'll fade pretty fast.

It is a long season for a 40 year old. Favre began to suck by the end of last season based upon his QB ratings from last year with the Jets.
His last 5 games were under 61%.

agreed.
as long as NYG keeps sucking, and Philly doesn't catch on fire the homefield won't be that huge of an issue.

I don't see either of these teams challenging the Saints for homefield advantage, esp since we hold the tiebreaker over both.

How do you think he injured his throwing arm last season?
Taking a hit or wear and tear over the season?

im going to assume from a hit or something. ive never heard os someone tearing a ligament from "wearing down".

Ligaments certainly can tear from throwing too much, too hard, etc., baseball players get tears and they aren't in contact. You can rip an abdominal ligament from coughing.
The fact his injury was concealed by the jets for weeks, and since he largely skipped preseason throwing makes me "assume" it was wear on his 40 year old arms. The guy is remarkable but I like the odds of him being very sore by December.

Gee, that would be a damned shame.

Looks like the Giants are in danger of missing the playoffs outright. That would be a sweet cold weather stadium to cross off our list.
