It has to be either Vilma or Sharper.

I pick Vilma because he is the QB of the D and a tremendous leader.

Thoughts?

FWIW, they are both QBs of the D. Vilma, for the front seven and Sharper for the backfield.

True, they never come off the field. I'm glad we have both, but I loved some of the hits Vilma made to stop the wildcat.

Sharper right now, with Vilma close behind.

Harper and Porter have also played very well.

And not that he belongs in a discussion about Defensive MVP, but Scott Shanle has looked pretty good this year.

It's nice to have choices for MVP of the D!

The correct answer is probably Gregg Williams.

Sharper, dude has six int's and three touchdowns.

Vilma is great, but his stats are not that good this year. He's behind Shanle and Harper for tackles and behind Hargrove and W. Smith in sacks.

If you had to rank them by the numbers, it would probably be:

Sharper ~ 22 tackles, 6 ints, 1 td, .5 sack
Shanle ~ 38 tackles, 2 ints
Porter ~ 28 tackles, 1 int, 1 td
Greer ~ 30 tackles, 1 int
Harper ~ 37 tackles, 1 sack
Vilma ~ 36 tackles, 1 sack
Grant ~ 15 tackles, 4 sacks
Hargrove ~ 17 tackles, 2 sacks
Smith ~ 15 tackles, 2.5 sacks
Fujita ~ 22 tackles
Ellis ~ 15 tackles, 1 sack
Gay ~ 9 tackles, 1 int
Ayodele ~ 8 tackles, 1 sack

My vote goes toooooo...... THE ENTIRE DEFENSE!

DE-WillSMith and CharlesGrant have both played EXTREMELY well this year compared to the past.
DT-Ellis, Ayodele, and SASQUATCH(lol) have been pretty damn good so far this year. Sorry to hear ellis is gonna be out for a while.
LB-Vilma is doing what he does best. Shanle has been great. Fujita/Evans has done good enough
CB-Best CB tandem for the Saints ive ever seen in my life. Neither are superstar Cbs; but both Porter and Greer have done superb.
S-Sharper has been a flat out beast! And Harper has had his best season up to date.
