part of the game would the official have looked at the Jumbotron? This has to be discussed by NFL hierarchy because that play was a joke. We knew the guy didn't catch the ball. The fans at the game saw that he didn't catch the ball. The receiver knew he didn't catch the ball. Why can't the officials use the jumbotron when it is so blatantly obvious? This is probably a precedent and it needs to be discussed because it could happen again and cost a team a victory. I would love to see a ref say that "the play cannot be reviewed because the replay t.v. doesn't work" during the Super Bowl with less than 2 minutes to go and a team about to score who is down by 2 points.

Or why couldn't the booth just review it instead?

this needs to be addressed for future NFL games.

frick that call...I know it didn't have anything to do with the outcome...but that was horse shite.

Later on that drive Bess dropped another one and I was gonna lose it if they called that one complete because I figured the replay machine was still malfunctioning.

Yeah, after it didn't work once, no type of replay should have been allowed for the rest of the half.

And frick the Miami fans for cheering that call. Even if the situation was reversed, I don't cheer that call.

if all their systems fail, I don't see why they just cant poke their heads into the broadcast booth and go "hey guys, what did you see on your TV replays?"

I think that if the replay system malfunctions at all during the game, then it cannot be used any further in that game.

in the last two minutes of each half,it is a booth review. The booth can only call for a review, but, the referee on the field has to make the decision. If he can't see the review how can he make the call? They definitely need to tweek instant replay when it comes to watching the review.I agree, this could get ugly if it ever happened in a huge game.

yeah, I mean to type "should not" instead of "cannot". This is my wish, but not the rule.

I would think it would sitch to a booth review. If we can see the replay on tv, the officials in the booth should be able to do so as well. I know crying over spilled milk, but what if this had happened in the 4th and it had a major implication on the games outcome?

I agree completely. Someone in the booth needs to walk over to a TV in a suite if they have to.

Why can't the NFL just scrap its ridiculous replay "system" and do it like the NCAA?

It isnt very hard to ask the guy in the booth what happened. They do it in CFB. Its amazing they have no contingency plan for malfunctions.

I am glad this got brought up b/c I was pretty pissed about that. And lo and behold, when Miami challenged later in the game it was working.

Complete fricking horseshite.
