I want to do red beans and rice for my tailgate this week. I plan on pre-cooking the beans, then bringing them out there and heating them on my grill (its one of those coleman grills that is kinda like a gas stove also). I'm going to bring some sausage to cook on the grill also.

I really don't want to fool with cooking rice out there - I was thinking of cooking the rice in the morning at my house, and just bringing the rice out there without ever chilling it- but it will be several hours before we eat the rice. Do you think this will work for having a hot plate of beans and rice?

I see no problems with that plan.

You might want to undercook your beans a little since you will be cooking them more later...might be mushy if not. But some people like em that way...

That's how I usually do mine, except I'm usually doing this for gumbo, etouffe, etc. Just make sure you beans are really hot, and you shouldn't get any complaints.

That's what I did for the Florida game. As long as your beans are hot, you should have no problem.

Thanks - it sounded like it would work to me, but I figured I would see if anybody tried it before - glad to know it works.
