Planning a trip to N.O. next week. Gonna hop a street car and get off and walk thru the Tulane campus for a bit. Is there anything remaining of the old stadium? A marker or plaque? There was a thread about this maybe a year ago, but I can't remember anything about it. Thanks!!!

The descendents of the rats that used to inhabit the bowels and rafters..... are now in the drains around campus.... any good rain and you'll see them.....

Not much. Student housing is there now. The Aron Residences I think is there. The old stadium sat in between Audubon and Claiborne streets "uptown". The only remaining remnants are inside the courtyard of the Aron residences as they kept the field from maybe the 45 yard line to the other 45. Older folks like me remember that other than the coliseum, rose bowl and soldier field at one time, that was one of the few 80K plus stadiums in the U.S. at the time. It was huge and very , well shaky.
Other than that not much left but old Sugar Bowl memories.

There are a couple commemorative plaques and a section of seating from the old stadium in front of the Reilly Center on the Tulane campus.

I assure you, start at Gibson Hall and walk around campus and end up at Turchin Stadium on the other end.

It will take a bit more than five minutes.

Willow St., yes it was shaky; Was largest steel deck stadium like a large erector set, thus the loud stomping as such occured that fateful night in 73!There may be a plaque there as well.

Actually, that is the entire student section seating – the other Tulane fan section was damaged when it fell out of the wheel barrow when they moved it.

Your talking about Tulane Stadium right? If so, supposedly there is a marker where Dempsy kicked the field goal to set the record.

1973 Sugar Bowl - Notre Dame vs Bama --
Went to the bathroom at halftime -- Mens bathroom had the trough-type pissoirs -- little ledge about 2 1/2 feet from the back wall, with water running down the back wall into the trough.

Guy about 3 feet to my left (not _too_ drunk), puts his hand out in front of him to lean on the wall like he does at home, only the wall is too far away. He falls into the slimy pis*y trough, and slips and falls and slides trying to get up, all the while pleading for people to give him a hand and pick him up.

I backed away while 2 or three guys laughed and urinated on him.

There is. It's real small and in the ground. You can easily miss it when you walk by it. It's in the middle of two buildings which look like dormitories.

Great memories of my late dad taking me in the late 60's also. Saints v. 49ers Or the Falcons was one game. About 63-3 was the final. Archie was still a hero to a 7 year old kid.

Things I can't erase; those Falstaff jet pack dispensers and fights in the stands. Wow.
