Crowton needs to put Jefferson in the position to succeed

Jefferson is terrible under the offense Crowton is calling. It is Crowton's fricking job to call plays that play into his quarterback's strengths. He is not doing that.
How about we throw some quick slants? Or a fricking screen besides when it is 3rd and 22? Or how about a wide receiver screen to Tolliver with Randle and LaFell (the best WR blockers on the team) blocking in front. How about we play Shepard at QB and actually give him the option to throw some short passes? They don't even have to be more than 5-7 yards. How about we don't run the option with fricking Jordan Jefferson who doesn't know how to run it? How about we roll Jefferson out so he only has to read half of the field instead of the whole thing?
Basically, we need to run the type of offense that Jimbo Fisher ran here when Mauck was at QB. Lots of short slants, a bunch of middle screens, with the occasional longball.
Jefferson played bad and he missed some open receivers, but overall, he was never put in a position to succeed. That is Gary Crowton's fault.

makes me cringe thinking of bringing Jimbos offense back but it would be perfect for Jefferson right now.

I agree with you 100% and that is my beef with this coaching staff. They do not use what they have correctly and don't use the strengths of the players that they have.
We have all kinds of weapons, but fail to use them correctly and they are not given the chance when it counts. I am sick of seeing TH and KW underused and RS needs to see the field.

Good Post. When NFL coaches have a rookie QB they often start the game with short simple passes to build confidence. The longer ball comes after they have built confidence and the situation of the game demands it.
What I would like to see is more quick slants, screen passes, flare passes for the reasons mentioned above and to slow down those speedy SEC defenses.
Some but not all of this has been done with JJ who I believe is a talented QB. I sometimes wonder if he is not being overcoached. When I see him trying to get signals from the sideline it seems like he is on information overload.

How do you know short slants aren't being called but not thrown? It looked like there were a few quick passes called that weren't thrown. Not sure why JJ didn't throw or if I didn't see the play right but considering JJ's tendencies to not throw into traffic, I think he's not comfortable making the pass.

The odds of this aren't very high. He threw a short slant early in the game that was completed for yards, so why would he have a problem throwing it later in the game. He knows he has to make throws, so if he doesn't want to make hard throws, then he had better make the easier ones.

I never thought I wished to see the bubble screen again either butjefferson needs short quick passes to gain his confidence back

I'm telling you, the Jimbo Fisher offense would be perfect.

I firmly believe that Miles and Crowton are at odds with each other.

If they are, Crowton is gone.
