I tried searching for the answer to this on the forum, but didn't find anything.

I KNOW some posters on here have said that the infamous "best offensive line" quote was misquoted, that CLM actually said "potential to be the best offensive line".

Can someone clarify this for me? Post a link to the actual quote?

Thanks, much appreciated.

That's what he said. The rant has now turned this into "the greatest offensive line in the history of football at any level."

Thanks. If anyone has a link to the article it appeared in, I'd appreciate it. I want to send it to an in-law who I'm debating this with...want to back it up with the actual deal, not a "I heard this on the rant", lol...as much as I love the rant, my BiL will stop listening to me if I bring it up as my proof in this instance.

"Our offensive line will be as good as we've had since I've been here," LSU coach Les Miles told Tigers boosters during his summer speaking tour this summer.

If that group can be as good as Miles thinks, it could be a banner year for an offense bulging with talent at the skill positions.
"Our offensive line is more mobile than it's been," Miles said. "I think our offensive line is potentially going to be as good as there is."

Doesn't matter how it was worded. Neither is legitimate and Miles must have known that when he said it. As I've stated, you make that statement for one of two situations:

1) you have a great OL
2) you have a lousy OL

Guess which one fits hers!

That's what he said.

That's because when he said it, they were practicing against a fairly weak DL, which is now getting somewhat better, but the OL is not, IMHO

neither...

The moral of the story is never pay much attention to what coaches say on booster tours or at media events...

Agreed. Bottom line is it doesn't matter WHAT he said pre-season. If he had said the OL is really going to struggle in the first half of the season, would any of us feel any better by the fact that has come true? No, it is still no matter how you look at it.
