Self-Criticism is Healthy, but can skew reality

I like what Carl Dubois had to say about "questioning inwardly at ourselves and wondering whether we could've done better, and coming up with no response"....... and, it got me thinking.....
I've watched several football teams play this first month of the college season, and several looked to be "far superior" to LSU with their team speed and overall play. When one team made big plays against the other, I marveled more at the good play of one over the "screwups" of the other. After seeing some of these same teams, who looked unbeatable in previous games, now getting beaten by our own Tigers or by a less talented team, then I begin to wonder if our P&G glasses have such strong "UV protection" that they filter out our ability to catch any sunlight generated by the opposing teams we play. We are so intensely looking for our own team's perfection that we give the opposition -0- credit.
Certainly, we can look prettier on the field and hopefully have yet to play our best football, but this past game got me thinking - our athletes are up to the task, and if they can continue to mature (along with our coaches making better decisions with play-calling and personnel), we have a chance at having a pretty damn strong team this year - maybe not an NC calibre, but not to be looked down upon, either.

this is the major character flaw for many on this board who for what ever reason or agenda continue to claim, game in-game out, that our coaches are holding us back. it, frankly, is pathetic.

you make a good point. we're not near as bad a team as some have said. there is still a reality in seeing our OL being a work in progress and our O struggling. the good thing is that they have risen to the occasion when needed. i don't think we'll be undefeated this year, but we're not going 6-6 like several posters have strongly avered. 9-3 is still my prediction. we've just got too many young, inexperienced guys at critical positions. i think the team has a much better attitude than last year and if they can keep that attitude next year, we can make a run at the whole enchilada.
