I was at a UT game saturday and had to follow the game on gamecast. I was thinking we must've looked like absolute shite by the way the score went, but after I rewatched last night I noticed that it wasnt so much our overall level of play, but just some gigantic miscues and inopportune penalities which made this game much closer than it should have been,
I was very impressed with two players
Chris Hawkins - coming into this game i felt he was really the weak link in the secondary. I still think Jai Eugene is far better in run support but hawkins in this game was on his man like glue and made some really athletic plays to knock away and intercept a few passes.
DeAngelo Peterson - after hearing about him for a while I was glad to finally see him get significant playing time. He made a great catch on a not-so-great pass and turned it upfield for a firstdown. He was also lined up as a blocker several times and really held his own.

All you need to know is that w/o Chad Jones, LSU loses by 14.

Or....without his boneheaded move to field a punt at the 5, LSU doesn't need a goalline stand to win the game because they would have had much better field position.

Or without Helton pulling a Xavier Carter bonehead move (dont cover it up on the 1, get in the endzone for the safety!) Miss State doesnt score one of their touchdowns and LSU has 4 more points.
