Google maps tells me 5 1/2 hours. Does it really take that long? I'm gonna have to leave at the crack of dawn thanks to this 11:30 start.

I have driven that drive many times.... it is a solid 5 hours! Go to Jackson and then up hwy 25. I think they have widened 25 now so that ay help. It was 5 hours back when 25 was a two lane road.

From Experience, DO NOT SPEED between Jackson and Starkville unless you have something to help you get away with it. The cops especially around Louisville have all kinds of traps set up on gameday.

No, Google maps is lying. It really takes only 3 1/2 hours.

I think that is you stay on interstates all the way to Jackson going 75 and then go 70 all the way up HWY 25 (its 4 lane all of the way from Jxn to Starkville) you can make it there under 5 hours.

I was just going to take I-55 to Hwy. 82 and then head east, does Hwy, 25 really make that much of a difference in time?

Coming from Mandeville, I always take 59 N to 82. It's Interstate/Highway the entire time, and there's very few slowdowns (ala Jackson and all the stop lights between 55 and the Reservoir). All though there is a sweet little speed trap near Macon.

From my house near the lake to campus is a shade under 4 hours and I don't really speed much.

this will be our third trip, staying with someone who is from there, he is convinced 25 is the best route.

Make sure to drive the speed limit after getting off I-55, especially through FLOWOOD. There are a million lights, cops everywhere and they LOVE to get LSU fans .

That is quite literally my least favorite area of the entire country. I have never been to North Dakota though.
