Derek Helton is not a freshman. But I think the others mentioned are the extent of true freshmen who have played.

Les Miles seems to have an inherent fear of playing freshmen. Instead of shelving these potential gems, he should be getting them experience in games vs inferior opponents such as UW and Vandy. I understand some have played, but nothing noteworthy.

Of course, we the fans want the new, shiny objects to be featured.

If you couldn't read, 5 true freshman have already played this year. It was about the same last year. Several young players are playing. This is just how it is at top programs. Be happy that 5 have seen the field.

READ my post. I mentioned PT, also mentioned meaningful PT. But these "scrimmages" vs average teams should be used as time to get experience. Fla, Bama, UGA are not good times to get your youngsters experience.

This is big time college football dude. You don't just start playing every highly recruited player right when they get there. There is tons of youth playing right now.

Personal opinion. If you think a specific player is going to be needed later in the season, use him early and often against inferior competition. Les may shock the world by playing the fab 5 (who have received PT) against ULaLa substantially, who knows.

Josh Downs needs to play more. He blow people up every time he is in the game.
