We are not the only team that struggled today

OK State looked like crap for a half at home and they return their whole team. Bama got off to a slow offensive start. Ohio State has a lot of people back and they should have lost to an unranked (but solid) Navy team at home. Then there is Oklahoma playing just down the road from home. They were struggling on O before Bradford went down.

All of these teams should have performed better than they did, but it is the first game of the season.

None of them traveled across the country, either. The only other team that traveled as far as we did, Maryland, got their arse handed to them by Cal.

This doesn't excuse the performance, but put it in perspective. Go off what we do next week at home.

Dude Really? They beat the#7 team in the country. That is not struggling.

I expected them to look better. I thought they would overwhelm VT offensively. Remember when we played VT?

I also forgot a ranked Iowa almost losing at home to a piece of crap.

Again, we were not the only team that struggled today.

Why? What does anyone else's performance have to do with ours?

not being negative.

I said that myself. Just realize that it happens in first game. Remember the UL-M game in 2003? We were completely flat for three quarters at home against a TERRIBLE team. Nobody remembers that one, do they?

Don't just dismiss the travel, because it is an issue. Maryland isn't a great team, but they got DESTROYED today. Last year, Cal was a much better team than Maryland, but got handled after traveling across country. Remember the UT-Cal games? The home team absolutely dominated both. The Cal team that went to Neyland ended up being pretty good. Unlike these teams, we did win. Let's take it and move on. Next week will tell us all we need to know.
