Put up or shut up time

I listened to College Gameday this morning. As ususal Corso and were Herbstriet were mid in season form. There was Herbstriet fawning over USC and Corso acting like the buffoon.

I usually just play anything Corso says off because I don't have that high of a regard for his opinion. He said something that got my attention though. Corso predicted Washington to upset LSU tonight.

Like the die hard LSU fan I consider myself to be, it pissed me off. How could this idiot pick Washington to upset LSU? I'm of the opinion that ESPN and Herbstriet and Corso in particular don't like LSU very much. Maybe I'm being emotional there, so when Corso said that, it didn't surprise me that much and I automatically attributed it to Corso's personal vendetta against LSU. That's the fan in me. When someone disses your team, how can you not feel that way!

Then I tried to look at the game as an outsider would. Someone with no vested interest in either team and I have come this startling conclusion: he has a point. The only evidence we have to go by is last year. We were 8-5. We have a 19 year old quarterback starting his 3rd game. Washington is a total unknown with Sarkisian and Locker. Locker has a season and a couple of games under his belt and well respected. The emotional edge would probably swing to Washington. The talent is definitely on LSU's side. That being said, with all the talent we had last year, we still went 8-5. If I were an outsider looking in, I would probably take Washington and the points. Can't say Corso did it to egg us LSU fans on. That's an opinion any outsider would probably share.

This is a new year and its up to LSU change that perception based on last year. We can't blame the DC's and we can't blame the QB since both have changed. We have the talent to win. No question.

Jordan is inexperienced, but I feel he has the makings of terrific QB. He has poise confidence that belies his age. Chavis feels the defense can be "championship caliber". That's good enough for me.

The time for talking is over now, and it is time to put up or shut up. My gut says LSU is going to be shutting some people up, namely Corso, and showing that last year was last year and that this is a new season. This is not last year's LSU team and the nation will soon begin to realize that.
