and go 6-10, 7-9, etc, does Sean Payton get the boot? If so, who do you think would be in line for the job?

I was thinking because of MNF and Jon Gruden in the booth. I wouldn't mind him if the Saints underperformed for the 3rd straight year. Hopefully the Saints go 12-4 and this topic never comes up.

Depends on why we lose that many games. If we lose a few certain people to injuries, that cant really be controlled. If our offense underachieves by ALOT, and our D has to keep us in games, then I think he is on a very hot seat. If the D lets us down a few times, thats not SP's fault. GW needs some time to get this D playing the way he wants it, and get all of the players into their roles.

In short, no I dont think he would be on the hot seat this season, but next season definitely.

If the Saints don't make the playoffs this year (and it isn't because of injuries or something out of Payton's hands) I think he probably should get canned. JMO.

yeah I don't think it would happen this year with the suspensions, injury to Brown, first year with Williams' new D, etc.

however if it does go wrong this year, he better get it together next year or he's toast

as for his replacement? how about Greg Williams? why not

Gotta do better than 8-8 this year. If not, next year will be THE make or break year for him. I've never wanted a coach to succeed more than him.

I agree with you not wanting to see a coach succeed more than Peyton he is just a likeable guy, but I'm not sure given the schedule that 10-6 or 9-7 would be underachieving just looks like a tough schedule to me.

It depends on how they went 6-10. If it's because Peyton kept the status quo and continued to bail on the run game (although he has shown a strong commitment to it lately) or if he continues to run the game plan through Reggie Bush, then his job should be in jeopardy.

If the poor record is a symptom of another rash of injuries or just unexpected poor play from a key player (say Drew Brees) then I couldn't blame that on the coach.
