Why is everyone so excited about this movie? Pardon my ignorance, but I am stil trying to understand why critics and fans are so excited.

The only reason I would watch it is probably Sam Worthington. He really impressed me in Terminator Salvation.

You are obviously not a 10 year old boy. My son loves the cartoon. Hope the movie will not be to offensive for him to watch.

"The Last Airbender" is the movie that is based on the TV show. It's directed by M. Night Shyamalan.
"Avatar" is a totally different film and is directed by James Cameron.

because its Cameron. when he does something, he doesnt leave out anything. he developed the entire story, he created planets, and languages. he invented new technologies to shoot the movie. its got decent actors, and its very mysterious, because for all of the talk and hype, he hasnt put out a trailer yet, so no one really knows for sure what to think.
