he's actually not on scholarship, but is counted against the 85 scholarships. The Angels are paying for his schooling now. It's like when the Phillies paid for Ricky Williams to go to Texas. He technically wasn't on scholly but counted against the 85.

I haven't read anything regarding him still counting against the limit. I'm not saying you're wrong I just haven't seen it.

that's just the rule, it's nothing new or specifically for him, it's just how it's always been done, those guys count against the scholarship limits.
