This article got me thinking...

LINK

Is Scioscia the best coach in the MLB currently? I would have to say with the success the Angels have had in the past 10 years he must be in the top 3 hands down.

I thought you meant middle LB coach, you mean manager. I was getting ready to cast my vote for Vitt.

I'll go with Torre.

Only a non baseball person would say coach. I hate the Red Sox but respect Francona

wasn't Washington a step away from being fired earlier in the season?

My bad manager. LaRussa is definitely up there in the top 3 as well. I don't think Torre deserves to be up there.

I do, tha man has been a steady manager for a long, long time, even longer than LaRussa. It's not his fault ARod goes into hibernation durin October, and he got basically canned for that. but just look at the job he's done in LA since taking over. put that in your pipe and smoke it.

LaRussa? You mean the guy who squandered all of that talent in Oakland? The most overrated coach in any sport not named Lenny Wilkens.

Torre's ability to manage egos is brilliant, and highly underrated. Scoscia has done a terrific job in Anaheim, I think he is great. And I'd throw Joe Maddon into the mix. He has transformed that Tampa team.

Torre didnt win shite when the yanks started getting all those all-stars. They won world series with the the "true yankee" type players, Posada, Jeter, Bernie, Paul O'Neil, Rivera, etc. When Sheffield, A-rod, Giambi, and the bunch joined them, Torre couldnt manage worth a shite

Torre couldn't control their egos you mean, has nothing to do with managing. I mean he didn't tell'em to go out and bring these guys in.

No, I mean the guy who continues to get the best out of his players even when no one expects them to contend. The Cubs were supposed to run away with the division, yet there 4.5 games back. With the team St. Louis had at the beginning of the year, no one expected they'd be where they are now. LaRussa does this year in and year out.
