We don't particularly have one. It's Ole Miss, Arkansas, Alabama (more or so now), Auburn and Florida. Tulane really isn't a rival if they haven't even given us a run for our money since Napolean

Officially it is supposed to be Tulane which is a joke or Arkansas which is kind of a forced rivalry. I would say realistically it is Auburn with Bama taking over that spot with a bullet starting last season.

LSU is Tulane's rival - Tulane is not LSU's rival. A long time ago, Tulane and Ole Miss were LSU's rivals - not any more. Florida, Alabama, Auburn are rivals now (maybe Arkansas).

It used to be Ole Miss, just as much as Tulane. There simply is no longer any rivalry with Tulane anymore, I think playing Tulane now is like playing UL Monroe or LaTech. Unless Tulane decides to pump some money into their football program, they should just drop the sport. But with Ole Miss seemingly back on the rise, this could become a big rivalry again, but I would have to say currently our biggest rival is Alabama because of Saban, but to any Alabama fan, Auburn will always be their biggest rival.

Good question. The traditional rivalry thing doesn't work well for LSU. Tulane, to put it nicely, is no longer competitive. Arky, to me, is a sort of TV contrived rivalry that may fade now that Bama-Auburn has been moved to the friday game. Ole Miss is probably the closest, esp. this year, but we have taken them to the wood shed most of the time in recent years. I have strong feelings toward Bama and Auburn, but they hate each other Waaaaay more that LSU. I can't think of any others that are even close. TV contract-wise, maybe this is good thing - don't put all your eggs in one basket - have a lot of hotly contested games for the national audience. KC.

That's just an uninformed sports writer looking back at what people were saying years ago...

They are all our rivals. We have total disdain for all things not LSU.

we have no arch rival....haven't really had one since I have have been old enough to follow LSU... the media tries to sensationalize a few different matchups, but none have any fan support at all....

You have to beat the other team to have a true rivalry. I think our biggest rival now is Bama.

For a true rivalry, the two teams need to have some off the field motivation for hating each other, and they both have to be competetive.

Ole Miss has the best shot at being LSU's biggest rival, especially if Nutt sticks around for awhile. The fan bases dislike each other, they were once undisputed rivals, they are located in close proximity to each other and they are both in the same division of the same conference.

Tulane is a rival. If you don't believe that, go to an LSU - Tulane baseball game. But in football, again, it has been so long since Tulane has been relevant that the LSU fans have ceased to give a damn about them.

Alabama is the most hyped now, but LSU will not supplant Auburn as Bama's top rival and, let's face it, the biggest reason for the rivalry is the Saban thing, and coaches named Nick Saban don't tend to stay in one place for more than 5 years.

The Arkansas thing is just contrived. There's a trophy. Wow. Who cares.

I really hate Auburn, but again, Bama is clearly their rival.

The Florida rivalry is getting good and, like LSU, I'm not sure that they have a true rival. Florida State and Tennessee are obvious, but you don't automatically say one or the other when asked "who is Florida's arch rival?"

Auburn games are always close and have had a flair for the dramatic in recent years.
Alabama is Nick Saban. IMO this gets overplayed.
Tulane. Meh.

Because we play them every year, I don't think it'd be a stretch to say Florida. No one else can really be competitive with them year in and year out.

To us old timers Ole Miss is and will always be LSU's biggest rival. I remember living on campus during Ole Miss week and the trash cans being set on fire during the night along with the panty raids. Ole Miss cost us a shot at the NC during the '69 season along with appearing in a major bowl. The Sugar took them instead of us. As far as taking them to the woodshed, I must have been sleeping because even though we may have beat them, the scores were awfully close. There is a great historical perspective concerning the LSU/Ole Miss rivalry. Living here in Alabama, Bama's biggest rival is Auburn followed closely by Tennessee. Auburn's biggest rival is Bama followed by Georgia. Before the SEC expanded, Auburn had a pretty big rivalry with Tennessee and Florida was up there too. Alabama and Auburn fans just think for the most part that LSU is a great game to watch and enjoy the competitive spirit of the game and the loyalty of the fans. As far as LSU being a rival with any of those two schools, there is no way in hell. Wether you like it or not, Ole Miss fits the bill.

Tulane because of proximity. Ole Miss because of tradition. Arkansas because of politics. Whoever is the top team in the SEC because of competition.

So, in short, we have rivals but not an archrival in the Army-Navy, Michigan-Ohio State, Auburn-Alabama sense. It is a weird coincidence because most every other Top 25 team has that one team to pick a fight with. Of course, we've never caused a Border War, reside in the same city or state as, or have an Ag/State school dynamic going on.

Ole Miss--they're not as competitive as they once were, but still give us a good game almost every year. This year will not be any different.
Their nutty buddy may have them back at us sooner than we like.
