I'm going to a beer tasting party next week. The beer is really secondary...it's just a little twist for a group that gets together every few weeks. Everyone is supposed to bring a different beer though. I'd like to bring something from louisiana. Probably not abita since most have had their beers. Any suggestions for a good beer?

And it doesn't necessarily have to be from louisiana...that was just my first thought.

Thanks for your help for a guy who is certainly no beer connoisseur!

This.

I think it's brewed in Wisconsin since Katrina, but same recipe, and still a N.O. company.

...or Blackened Voodoo. A growler or two (or pony) of nola brown or blonde would be good, but a bit of a hassle. Heiner Brau (not sure of the spelling) also bottles some of their beers and I'd imagine far fewer of the party guests have tried that as opposed to Abita.

Go with the heiner brau. It's a good beer that not many people around here have had. Matherne's has it.

This is the correct answer. Until NOLA brewing starts bottling, that's your best bet. Get the Marzen as opposed to the Kolsch. It's the better beer.

Is there anywhere to get this in north Louisiana? Anywhere between Alexandria and Shreveport?
