It was apparently the fault of their old AD for not trademarking the logo with Nike:

Its the font the LSU is in, in the endzones i believe

Is there any difference in the two font besides the "L" having that "hook" in it. Otherwise the current helmet font looks like regular ol' Stahls Varsity font which is almost the standard for sports lettering.

Holy crap, State did it not once, but twice:

quote:

It's all about who owns the logo. Nike owns the stacked, interlocking MSU. Russel owns the original M-State banner logo. The new logo is owned by Adidas. It's changed as we've changed clothing providers.

wow, you'd think they would figure this out the first time.

This is why you're Mississippi State.

Let's no laugh too hard at State until we figure out why LSU may be changing the helmet logo (if they in fact are).

Could this move presage a change in uniform manufacturers?

Ahh I see. For me, it wouldn't be the end of the world if they did switch to that helm.

If I attached such seriousness to the markings on a helmet, i think I would.

At least Adidas is capable of making truncated shoulder stripes look halfway decent.

There's no reason to swap the old logo wiht toonces. If a helmet is ever redesigned (unlikely IMHO) it would be somthing more dramatic.

The thing is, the purple on the current helmet doesn't match that of the rest of the uniform. It looks almost black.
