Alabama. Their defense is going to be even more stout than it was last year and their offense is only going to get better as the year goes on and they gain more experience.

Ole Miss. The schedule is set up so that even Vanderbilt could go 9-3

Alabama

Very weak schedule.

Ole Miss is the better overall team of the two, and the west may end up in a three way tie.

ole miss.

reasoning: they host LSU and Bama and play Tennessee, SC, and Vandy from the East.

Thanks for the contribution cornholio, I guess LSU gave them both a perfect example of how to do that last year.

Ole mess will be a tougher game to win, and bama won't score well. We beat bama...mess may be tough to handle if they are healthy.

All this talk about easy schedules, this is still the SEC, there are no "easy" schedules. However, there are certainly "easier" and "tougher" schedules when you compare them team by team. LSU has by far the toughest schedule of the three teams in the West. They have to play at Georgia and will go into that game completely untested after walk overs against Washington, Vandy, ULL, and MSU. LSU will have very little idea of what they have and what they need to improve on heading to Athens. While Georgia's offense will take a step back this year, their defense should be pretty stout. The very next week LSU plays Florida. Finally, LSU has to play both at Alabama and at Ole Miss. The one scheduling advantage Ole Miss has over Alabama is that the game between those two is in Oxford.

And that Ole Miss does not play a significant OOC team. Alabama will probably lose to VT

Ole Miss

LSU could beat them both and still lose the west. For LSU to win the west they will have to go undefeated, IMO. The Schedule is set for Ole Miss to win the West.

Which will in no way affect the SEC race, seeing that it is a non-conference game and all. And for LSU to beat them both and not win the West, they would have to lose three other games, that wouldn't happen. But, neither would LSU beating them both I don't think.

These are the schedules for all three teams.
Alabama:
Sept. 5 vs. Virginia Tech (Atlanta)
Sept. 12 FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL
Sept. 19 NORTH TEXAS
Sept. 26 ARKANSAS
Oct. 3 at Kentucky
Oct. 10 at Ole Miss
Oct. 17 SOUTH CAROLINA
Oct. 24 TENNESSEE
Nov. 7 LSU
Nov. 14 at Mississippi State
Nov. 21 CHATTANOOGA
Nov. 28 at Auburn

Ole Miss:
OLE MISS REBELS
Sept. 6 at Memphis
Sept. 19 SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA
Sept. 26 at South Carolina
Oct. 3 at Vanderbilt
Oct. 10 ALABAMA
Oct. 17 UAB
Oct. 24 ARKANSAS
Oct. 31 at Auburn
Nov. 7 NORTHERN ARIZONA
Nov. 14 TENNESSEE
Nov. 21 LSU
Nov. 28 at Mississippi State

LSU:
Sept. 5 at Washington
Sept. 12 VANDERBILT
Sept. 19 LOUISIANA LAFAYETTE
Sept. 26 at Mississippi State
Oct. 3 at Georgia
Oct. 10 FLORIDA
Oct. 24 AUBURN
Oct. 31 at Tulane
Nov. 7 at Alabama
Nov. 14 LOUISIANA TECH
Nov. 21 at Ole Miss
Nov. 28 ARKANSAS

For LSU to win the West they will have to go undefeated. LSU tends to play down to their compition that they should beat and they play up to the teams that are as good or better than they are. Look at the schedules and you will see that Ole Miss has the better shot because of scheduling.

LSU could beat them both (OM & BAMA)and lose to UGA and UF (TWO GAMES) and STILL lose to west to EITHER Ole Miss or BAma
