cool quote about when he got to lsu from j.c.

quote:

I remember the equipment manager brought me an outfielder's glove. And I said, 'No, man, you've got me confused with someone else. I'm a second baseman.' And he said, 'Not any more.'

Looking at that picture of the catch, it makes me think of how close those LSU fans in the outfield could have been to "robbing" him of that catch. They would have been the "Bartman" of LSU baseball.

Wow the angle might be bad in that pick...but the drunk in purple paint was really close to fricking that catch up! It's nice to see an LSU guy doing well!

Thanks for the link. It's always great to hear what former players are up to. It's funny, but Turtle Thomas recruited like Bear Bryant did in the old days. He may have had a scholarship limit, but no limit to the number of players on the roster. With the help of TOPS, along with the status of the program, he was able to get a ton of kids to come to LSU. Kids in Louisiana wanted to play at LSU so bad that they would walk on at LSU and turn down partial scholarship offers from schools like ULL and ULM. PM is getting us back to that status, but he's limited to the 35 man roster limit, with only 30 on financial aid. Next year the limit drops to only 27 on financial aid.

we called him paint boy. he's actually painted with oil based house paint. he was SMASHED at like 6am and jack warner talked him into letting them paint him. i can remember him puking into the dumpster outside the stadium... GREATNESS!!!

Thanks. I've been wondering where he was for a long time.

I remember the catch very well. The look on Muth's face was priceless. That was the second time in that game Wright robbed him of an extra-base hit.

Nice read, I met back up with Ray when the team got together for the First Pitch banquet, great guy, still really funny and having a great time with the NASCAR stuff.

He's not a big guy, and he got up for that catch, like you all said, it's amazing he came down with it.
