Is Leon Landry hurt or is he just sitting out for right now? I noticed that he wasn't in the lineup.

The guy who had the huge error is a main part of why hes not playing.

ESPN announced a few times that he was just sitting out as we have super talent on the team. No othyer reason. I didn't know either at first although I watch most games cause I also have a life outside of baseball

He started the Baylor game in regionals IIRC but Mahtook's been the starting CF for a while.

Mahtook beat him out for the starting spot about 1/4 of the way through the season. Landry will play some vs. righties but probably won't play CF.

I really don't get it either:

Mikie Mahtook
BA .323 HR 6 SLG .509 OB .387 FP .989
Leon Landry
BA .305 HR 12 SLG .585 OB .383 FP .974

Virtually the same OB%, drop 0.016 in BA to get double the HRs, add 0.076 in SLG% and drop 0.015 in FP. Unless there is some behind the scenes stuff, I don't get why he's not in there.

Also, hasn't Schimpf played 3rd before ( I know he's played 2nd and 1st )? If so, best lineup, stats-wise, is dropping Hanover, moving Schimpf there, Mahtook to left ( never understood why he plays CF and Landry plays LF when both are in the game ), and Landry in CF.

Landry sat out tonight because he was injured. He hurt his shoulder making a diving catch last week.

No, tigereye has got it right...Mahtook has been starting in CF for some time now. Landry as of late has found his way into the line up, but not consistently.

It has nothing to do with mahtook. With RHP lately we have had schimpf at 1B, landry in LF. And mahtook still in cf.

LEON STILL DIDNT PLAY TONIGHT BECAUSE HE WAS INJURED!

I wouldn't say it has nothing to do with Mahtook, but yeah, there are other players that have been pushing Landry out of the lineup too.

Schimpf can play 1B. Dean can play OF. Ochinko doesn't always play. Etc.

Didn't know he was hurt - that makes sense.

But when you consider how hot Landry started and then a pretty big slump, those numbers are a bit skewed.

Not skewed at all cuz he went Hot Cold and now Hot again.. he dipped pretty low in the .200's and now he's back above .300.. both guys are great just hard to get all our players in there because we have so many great ones..

Well, it is skewed if you just look at the totals and wonder why we ever benched him like the poster he posted the stats did.

Mahtook was given a shot because Landry played poorly for an extended period of time.

I'm glad to see he's back and hitting well at the end of the season.

Agreed, we're a pretty deep team.
