Now that the regular season has wrapped up, who does it look like will be winning the SEC POY awards?

It looks to me like Coleman ought to be a frontrunner for pitcher of the year.

As for Player of the Year, the guy from Georgia looks pretty strong, I'm not sure if Blake Dean's torrid finish will be enough to overcome him.

Does CPM get Coach of the Year, or does the overall high level of talent on our team weigh down his chances?

Thoughts?

You can make the argument for Bianco, but given how up and down every other team in the SEC has been this year, think you should give it to PM for the team's consistency. Especially when you consider: the lineup changes that could have threatened that consistency, the lack of consistency with the bats with runners on base, the lack of consistency on the mound after our top two pitchers.

It is amazing how evenly this team achieved given all that.

I think Bianco will get Coach of the year, and Polythress from UGA player of the year. Coleman would be my choice for Pitcher of the Year.

I agree with all three. May just be how it pans out.

+1

I agree with your assessment of the PM situation, but I think that in the end they will see that Bianco and PM ended with the same record, only Bianco with less talent. But here's to optimism

No way Dean is getting POY. That will either go to the guy from Georgia or Bama(dont feel like looking the names up). Coleman will win pitcher of the year.

it's a shame tennessee sucks so much because cody hawn should be right up there with poythress and matthes. hawn has 22 homeruns and 81 rbi's. poyhtress will probably get it w/ his .379 BA even though matthes has a ridiculous home run count with 27 already

Let Bianco beat CPM for COY. Either the player from Georgia or the one from Bama probably deserve to win POY, though other arguments could be made. For CPM's sake, I will be more than happy to see him hoist that NC trophy at Omaha. At that point, SEC COY will be a distant memory...
