So my xbox 360 just gave the Red ring of death, and it's way out of warranty. I've decided that I'm just going to buy a new one. Is there any hardware difference between the arcade, pro, and elite 360s? Or is the difference in their prices all in the accessories such as hard drive size, etc..

Are you sure it is out of warranty. I think they extend the warranty if your xbox red rings. I know that mine was out of warranty by a few months when it happened to me and they still fixed it for free. It didn't take long at all, either.

Make sure you read the fine print. I just sent my "out of warranty" system in and they fixed it for free. The one year standard warranty is probably what is expired, not the extended 3 year (RROD) warranty.

I have had this 360 since the spring after they were released. So it's definitely out of warranty.

What's the manufactures date? You get three years from that date.
If you have to buy a new one, get the arcade one and take the hard drive from the broken one.

Its nice to have the Elite just for the 120GB. I had an original one and it was almost full.

Just received the RROD today. It hasn't even been a year since i got my elite.

standing up allows for better ventilation.. however you are more prone to rrod bc the disc doesn't read as easily and can be swayed around easier..
sideways reads the disc much better.. and if you make sure the ventilation is good you are safer.
i know from personal experince. i've had several rrods. all caused from the disc moving around.

You might want to try this first
I also just got the red ring and mine was also out of the warranty. Instead of just giving in I sat on the phone for 15 minutes telling them how much crap this was and that all of the xbox systems made have this wrong with them. After yelling at this poor indian guy for fifteen minutes they transfered me and set me up with a new warranty and are fixing my console for free.
