New Louisiana traffic laws to go into effect?

I got this email today, so I am assuming it is not true...

quote:

Hey everybody you might want to pass this info on to anybody that drives in Louisiana. Wayne Torres one of our project managers was in Chalmette this morning and got pulled over by a state trooper for going over the speed limit in a school zone. The trooper told him starting tomorrow a speeding ticket in a school zone even if it's one mile over the limit is going to be $1,200.00. If you are going eleven or more miles over the limit you get the $1,200.00 ticket plus a citation and possible jail time. It will be considered a misdemeanor. Then you have to appear in court and pay court costs.

Also, starting tomorrow if you see a trooper on the interstate with someone pulled over you have to switch to the left lane before you pass him or you will get a $150.00 ticket. It's because so many of them are hit.

Still, anyone that speeds through a school zone should pay a hefty fine...

it's a pretty nasty fine for speeding in a school zone, but i don't think it is that much and how would they enforce the lane change "ticket" .. ? way too much ambiguity there ..

Everyone beware, there will be a gang initiation tonight around Baton Rouge. MS13 will be riding around in their Impalas with their bright lights on. Do not flash them or you will be shot.

I love these emails...I get these spam emails from the same person. I always bounce them off the OT to set the record straight.

So, obviously some person made this up to get people to slow down in school zones and to protect troopers on the highways...

all fines for tickets must be made payable to the first national bank of kenya. if you pay fast enough you might be eligible to win $1,000,000.

School zone speeding email is false

Posted: April 29, 2009 01:56 PM CDT

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police was flooded with phone calls this week about an email being widely circulated which warns of an increased fine for speeding in school zones.

Sergeant Markus Smith says the email, which claims the fine for speeding in a school zone will increase to $1,200, is inaccurate.

Smith says there are laws in Louisiana that prohibit excessive fines being put in place for specific situations, like speeding in a school zone.

In East Baton Rouge Parish, for example, the fine for speeding in a school zone (11 miles over posted speed limit) is $134.25.

I know this is valid in MS...not sure about LA. MHP hit me with a ticket several months ago for this (~$200).

This is true, It has been on the books for a long time. They are going to start enforceing it now. The law state "if you see a emergency vechile on the side of road pull over to next lane if possiable and reduce speed if no extra lane slow to 25 miles an hour"

know this for fact got a ticket in El Paso for not changing lanes and slowing down. Think all states have this on their books

left lane before you pass

Speaking of left lanes, they need to start enforcing/writing tickets to slow arse drivers (usually old people) who clog up the passing lane on interstates. Nothing burns my arse more than a 80 year old lady driving 60mph in the passing lane, backing up traffic for miles. They have no frick'n clue the nightmare that they are causing
