I know it's months and months away, but I'm bored to death at work and just found out that I'll probably be getting tix to the LSU/Georgia game this year.

I've never made the trip before, so anyone have any recommendations at good places to eat around the Athens area or along the way.

Looking for maybe one nice place sit down place and a few diners, drive-ins, and dive type places.

Thanks in advance.

Here's some advice. Don't go! Everytime you go to an away game LSU loses!

Actually I'm 1-2 so I'm trying to even my record up.

Win - Ole Miss 07
Loss - Kentucky 07 and Florida 08

I went to UGA.
Athens is way more of a bar town than a food town.
Do try Guthries and compare it to Canes. It's where Todd Graves got his start.

I would reccomend Wild Wing Cafe on East Washington.

Locos on South Harris, get The Gobbler

And they have a Varsity, I forgot what street it is on

Wild Wing is a chain, I wish they had one here. It is awesome.

Last Resort is the best restaurant in Athen's IMO.

It's not like the BR Varsity, its a completely different joint. It's a famous hot dog place. Very overrated.

best bet is to stay in the Buckhead area and eat around there, tons of options. Athens is only an hour drive and there ain't sh*t to eat worth while or different out there.

They do have a music venue place(name alludes me) that does look like the BR Varsity though on the inside. Has a similar balcony and floor, but it just seems kind of old compared to the BR Varsity.

I was talking about THE Varsity, as in the one from Atlanta. Just saying for a type of dive place he is looking for

I lived in Atlanta for 10 years and there is no question if you want a "food" experience then you should stay in Atlanta and drive into Athens for the game.
But if you want a gameday experience then stay in Athens and go downtwon on Friday before the game and get ready to be up early because most of UGA games are day games
