Having the #1 recruiting class last year may hurt this class (2010)...We might finish in the Top 10 which won't be bad though...

What say you?

I don't think so.

their are a few factors that will lead to us having another top recruiting class. 1 with the amount of seniors we will lose after this season
2 a revamped defense that lots of recruits may want to be apart of.(even linebackers)
3 a proven qb with at least two more years at LSU.

Just one person's view , but don't you think it's a wee bit erly to make these types of assessments?

having 6 commits right now and a top 10 ranking later on have nothing to do with each other.

I just don't seee us racking up like last year...Hope I'm wrong...

we didn't have the #1 rated class, bama did...we lost a 5star and didn't get the other 5 star we needed, they did and they were first.

you will probably be right...at the end of the day, the state isn't as talented this year as last. it works in cycles...high-profile one year, lean on talent the next. this year happens to be that kind of year. you won't see any five stars coming from LA, so your expectations won't be met on that standpoint.

out of state is where you'll see a good number of 4 stars, IMO...guys like OC Brown, Maclin, etc. have the potential to be the OOS headliners this year.

No

Not having the same number of elite recruits in Louisiana will hurt this class. But if you're seriously expecting top 5 class every year, prepare for disappointment.

By the way, 6 early commitments is pretty good. Only a few teams have more.

How many "ships" do you see us handing out this year?

I disagree with this. Why shouldn't we expect that. Obviously the talent level in LA in a given year has a huge bearing on this, but given LA's location, even with subpar instate talent, there is enough talent within a 6-7 hrs drive of Baton Rouge to expect this every year or at least every 3 out of 4.

The buzz at this point in recruiting last year was much higher than it is now. The talent in Louisiana was better and we were coming off a national championship year. I think that going 8-5 last year will hurt us more than anything.

I still expect us to have a good class, but not top 5. But, if we have a class like the 2008 class, I'll be very happy. That class was like #11 and we are going to get a lot of really good players out of it.

Class rankings are overrated anyway. You get the best players you can at the position of need and don't worry about what Rivals says. The coaches know what they are doing and we're going to bounce back in a big way this year, so there might be some big names who are waiting to see how we play this year before they jump on board. At any rate, we need to play much better this year than last if we want to keep all of this going. That goes without saying.

'Bama has 6 commits right now as well... along with the same feeling that we won't be able to pull off a #1 class this time. Top 10 would be fine with me.

lsu will have better on the field success this year which can only help recruiting, you cant say that some of last years recruits weren't effected by how lsu played last year

Florida will probably have the #1 class this year. They didn't take many guys last year and the talent in Florida this year is sick. Either them or Texas seem like safe bets at this point
