What is a good beer or style to start someone off with if that person does not drink beer at all? Should they start with tasteless American macrobrews to ease in? Or go straight to what we (as in frequent beer drinkers) would consider great beers, or something in between?

Is there any hope for someone that says they don't like the taste of beer?

Abita.

Go with the Amber, Purple Haze, or Strawberry first.

Probably a good idea. Amber is not a bitter beer and the other two are fruity beverages.

Michlob Ultra. It has no after taste and that is what usually turns off new beer drinkers.

The taste of macrobrews is usually what turns the beer newbie off. Any smooth ale, with the least bitterness you can find, is best.

Amber is a great suggestion. You might try a heiffeweizen of some sort. Shiner has a good one that easy to drink. Blue moon perhaps.

Abita Light has the least amount of aftertaste of any beer I've ever had. If that's what you're looking for, it's a great beer to start someone off with imo.

I don't know that finding a beer with the least taste to it is a good way to make someone want to drink more. If it doesn't taste good, why bother drinking it at all?

Abita Amber or Purple Haze might be good options locally. Something like a Paulaner Hefe-Weizen might be good too.

I'd go Purple Haze or macrobrew.

I would start with a pale ale like Bass or lager such as Harp. They are pretty average beers that still have flavor and neither looks intimidating to a beer novice.
