The final edition is Friday, less than 2 months away from the 150th anniversary. They couldn't find a buyer. I always liked the RMN better than the Denver Post but that was mostly just me.

There are going to be a bunch more...and many magazines will be folding in the coming months. It is ugly right now in those areas...

Nah, I'm in rural Georgia but I got my degree in Boulder and most summers spend a week up in Estes Park with about 13 family members. I agree neither paper is very good but I'd take either over the Macon Telegraph.

totally off topic. But one of my best friends is on a month assignment in macon. He was looking for stuff to do. Since I went to GT, he was pumping me for info but I have only seen macon at 70mph so had none.

That's nothing. Rumor has it the San Francisco Chronicle is about to be shitcanned if Hearst can't find a buyer ASAP. It apparently hasn't turned a profit in about ten years.

To be honest I have little idea what to do in Macon despite it being the nearest large city for the last 8 years. I used to go there occasionally for Home Depot but we got a Lowes now so that is over.

I guess he could go find Duane Allman's grave in the cemetery along the river; there is a long paved trail along the river which is supposed to be good. The Ocmulgee Indian Mounds is an interesting place to visit and he could hike in the nearby Bond Swamp. There are several museums that lose a bunch of money; one is dedicated to Otis Redding. The only restaurant I've ever eaten at in Macon is Olive Garden cause the wif likes that. We pretty much stick to our little town and the friends we have here. For fun we go hiking in the nearby state forest or to the North Georgia mountains or the coast which are fairly nice. Macon is a dump though.

Tell your friend to try APs Hidden Hideaway. No suit, no tie,...levis, T or sweat shirt. Sunday afternoons they have good live music out on the wooden deck. Good local bar.
