Excited about the basketball win tonight but looking ahead to tomorrow a bit too. Anybody know anything about their team this year? They have been a decent ballclub that we can't automatically chalk up a win over the past few years.

In particular, any big time arms that we should worry about?

The reason it wasn't an easy win in the past is not because of them but us. We weren't that good for a while until the end of last year. LSU should beat them by 10+ but baseball is funny like that.

well SD state and SAn Diego are both quality comp, one is ranked, and southern split with them, Malloy is thier ACE and hes good, also have Chase Richard whose pretty good as well.

If they pitch ethier one of these guys it'll be competitive while thier in.... once thier out then we should cruise...

I watched them play Saturday vs. SDSU. They can hit the ball if the pitcher dosen't make his pitches. Their pitching is really thin, like the previous poster said its Malloy and Richard. After Richard gets pulled it should be easy to break it open. The only X factors I can see are that, 1-SU always gets amped up to play LSU and 2-Matulis, our starter tonight is making his first ever college appearence, supposedly he's got a great arm, but I wouldn't guarantee that he'll be walk free tonight either. Should be a fun game to watch if you have nothing better to do!

SU is a lot better then Nova. How much do you know about SU?

They might be better but the best team SU had probaly ever was the Weeks days and for them to win one regional game was huge for them. And it was a huge upset. SU is normally probally 7-8th best team in the state behind even LSU-E. They might be alot better this year but not compared to the #1 in the nation. If the game is close its would be a big upset.

Southern might be better but they would lose to almost every D1 team in the state. Maybe they could beat Nicholls but Nicholls has a better team this year so thats a toss up. I have been around baseball for a long time and never understand why SU is considered on of the best in the state. All I am going off of is history so we will see as it plays out this year.

Probably because they usually win the SWAC which puts them in the post-season.

Have you seen anyone except SU play? That league outside maybe two or three teams are some of the worst in college baseball.

I know, that's why people think they are good because they usually dominate their conference which sucks which in turn gets them in the post-season.
