I am looking at a ton of schools in the southeast and really am thinking about going to LSU, but my parents dont quite want me to go to LSU. anything besides saturday night in death valley i can throw at them to convince them that LSU is the place for me?

Well, what do you want to major in? AND where does LSU rank in that department? Your argument definitely lies on the academic side of things! Your mom doesn't want to hear about how easy it is to buy beer or get laid.

why don't they want you to go to LSU? knowing their argument would help us, help you, with a counter argument

1.) size is there main concern
2.) location is knida far away but i keep telling them if there is any dire need to get off campus(which i doubt there will be) or an emeregency where i have to get home i have family that lives in New orleans and biloixi.
3.) Academics (even though LSU is in the top 20 for biology... hmmm they need there facts straightend out)

well its size is one thing but i know im ok with it and they just think there are better schools out there academic wise, like they are ok with auburn cause its slightly smaller but i look at it as more engineering the biology and pre-med type school which LSU has to offer
what you need to find out is the average class size within your major. at LSU, your freshman and sophmore years you are in large auditorium style classrooms, but depending on your major, your upper level classes can have a s few as 10 people. Your parents should be more focused on what you want to do, and where you want to spend the next four years though, its your life after all.

the girls are better looking here than auburn.

you can drink at most bars when you're 18 without trouble

new orleans is only an hour away

Yeah, there'll be no dire need to get off campus. If there's another hurricane you'll want to stay for the party afterwards.

try revering shite on them, tell them you are considering Ohio State, and see if size is still the issue when its a 'better" university

THAT might be reason #1 for not wanting you to go to LSU. She partied hard and doesn't want that for her baby!

Uh Oh! That's probably why she's concerned! Believe me, I am very familiar with UNC and Duke and anything that you can do in BR you can do there, except maybe the food!

Are you considering Maryland? You can use that as a counterpoint to LSU to narrow a number of the issues on size, academic rank, campus and community security and the like.

If they're cool with Auburn, you're bound to be able, with planning and research, to sell LSU to them.

explain to her that after 1998, when a fraternity member drank himself to death, LSU has become much stricter in regards to alcohol and partying

Maryland!?!

So, would they let you go to College Park? It's wayyy bigger than LSU. Are you considering any in-state schools? LSU is less of a party school than Morgan State or UMES. LSU has biomed facilities on the par of Hopkins, when you consider the off-campus facilities as well (doesn't have the teaching hospital of Hopkins, of course...)

I teach high school in Maryland. My son's in 4th grade and is already planning to go to LSU. I got dissed by College Park when I went to grad school and then chose Towson (go Tigers), which for my money is the best state school in Maryland. Throw those arguments at me!
