I'm about to go nuts sitting in my office right now listening to these two guys talk to a female co-worker about MMA/UFC.

Some of the highlights of what I've just heard...

- MMA was started by Randy Couture
- Vitor (Fedor) is unstoppable and "the MMA" doesn't know what to do with him
- Forrest Griffith is an awesome champ
- They're going to watch UFC this weekend but they missed MMA last weekend (MMA was used as the orginization, not the sport)
- They want to see Brock Lester fight
- Contemplated whether or not Tito Ortiz was the person who beat "Forrest Griffith" for the title

unfortunately for knowledgable mma fans the majority of people who like to talk about mma sound like the type you described

They're just trying to get laid. Chicks love MMA for some reason and are retarded. A buddy of mine wore an affliction shirt out one night and we convinced like 10 girls he was in town to fight. Idiots.

I'm nowhere near the level of Cash, Smack, Max, etc., but then again, I don't claim to be either. The way they were matter of factly correcting each other statments with equally as ridiculous statements is what drove me crazy.

That's a sign of just how poorly marketed the M-1/affliction/golden boy/trump event really was. A great card with all those promoters/sponsors and most UFC "fans" didn't know it was going on.

For the record both Affliction PPV were worth every penny. Great product, great fights/fighters, not enough main stream promotion. Hopefully they'll get it right the third time around.

Their marketing department either sucks, is poorly funded, or doesn't exist.

Maybe they thought the in-store advertisements at Buckle would be sufficient?

The 32851750984 people that will walk into the bar saturday night right before GSP's fight and then walk out again as soon as it's over and they start replaying the undercard. Annoying as hell.

affliction said before the first show that backed with Trumps money ect, that they were in for at least 3 shows. The first show was very successful by most accounts even if they didn't get UFC numbers. I haven't seen any numbers from this one, but I would guess they would be down due to bad marketing.

didn't Dana White say it was Bruce Lee, or something like that? i have no idea who it is, or if it's even really possible to pinpoint. I didn't start watching until about 1992-1993 when Royce beat Ken Shamrock and the skinny french dude. I never really paid attention to the organizers, or who was doing it before them.

there's actually a good MMA history on the wiki, that links back to vale tudo (anything goes) in Brazil.
