and have a conference championship? It wouldn't completely eliminate the need for a playoff but it could have helped reduce the controversy the last few years.

Because this would make it more difficult on their claim to a faux MNC every year for USC.

The Pac 10 is smart. They've got a nice deal.

Think about it.

The conference is dominated by one team. That team might play 2 ranked teams a season with their schedule. Then, if they don't play for the BCSNCG, they get to beat the "best team" from the Big 10, then have the media whine on their behalf that they were the ones who deserved the title.

I wouldn't change that either. It's like CFB welfare.

I don't see how that solves anything. Actually, it creates more of a problem because that way you'd have another conference in which every team in the conference does not play eachother every year. The only reason for conference championship games is for the $$,.

To play devil's advocate, why doesn't the SEC reduce the size of its conference down to 10, and play a 9 game schedule, like the PAC-10 does? The PAC-10's 'formula' isn't the problem persay....now, maybe if they just got better athletes overall spread over their other 9 schools...

Equating having a conference championship game to reducing controversy doesnt solve anything.

Just look at the Big XII with their unbalanced divisions. You think them having a championship game reduced any controversy? On the contrary - it was what caused most of the controversy with the BCS this year.

This is exactly why the Pac-10 sucks and will never be the toughest conference in America which they always claim to be. If they ever want to be like the SEC, the first step to achieving that goal is to have a conference championship.

By the way...how would trying to implement a conference champ. game work? Does every school vote on it? Does it have to be a majority vote or unanimous?

i fail to see how playing every team in the league isnt better than only playing 1/2 of 1/2 of the league on a rotating 6 year basis

every league should be 10 teams, 9 conference games and 3 occ

Agreed, but the Big10 doesn't have a team with USC's media market.

Not to mention, the Big10 already got theirs in the BCSCG two years in a row from the SEC, which makes the USC Rose Bowl wins laughable, IMO.

Because a bunch of guys in black pants and white shirts would be riding their bikes around trying to convert people to Mormonism at tailgates...

Northwestern is in Chicago, Minnesota is in Minneapolis, many of the other schools are in close proximity to major cities. Really only Iowa is in BFE and all the larger midwestern cities have huge alumni followings.

At least everyone in the Pac10 plays eachother unlike the big ten system which makes no sense

The Pac 10 should take Colorado and either BYU or Utah.

Boise should leave the WAC for the MWC, Big 12 should pic up TCU.

Perhaps because there is a lot more to an athletic conference than just FB. Not everyone are a bunch of money grubbing whores like the SEC/Big 12/ACC and the Pac 10 has the best method for determining their conference champ.
