I like the Chavis & Cooper hires, but I'm not so geeked about Brick...his resume is seems a bit iffy and those assholes in Chicago appear happy to be rid of him...NFL ties help recruiting, but can this guy coach ? Can someone drop some knowledge on me?

NFL is not college. How was he at the college level?

They loved him in 2007. Chicago's whole defense sucked this year. They've steadily declined since Rivera left. Brick is a great coach and will help. Look at the Saint's DL this year. Did that inspire people for Orgeron? Sometimes you are limited and it seemed this year that Chicago's injuries killed it, especially when they lost Tank Johnson.

It's certainly reasonable to assume that guys who make it to the NFL can 'coach', but maybe I'm putting to much emphasis on his results this past year...my bad.

The Bears defense as a whole this season was horrid, and I really think that was the effect of losing Rivera and the system slowly changing.
Also, injuries killed them the past two seasons and attrition. Also, their shitty offense continued to put them in tough positions.

He had a great line his first year in Chicago(I think) and he made some damn good DL at MSU, despite their limited recruiting. Still have no idea on how he can recruit though.

My only issue with Brick is that according to rivals he only coached the DL two years in college, the rest of the time he was a linebackers coach. That said you have to love that Miles went out of his way to acquire defensive staff members who all have SEC coaching expierence.

Haley does NOT have an impressive resume'. LSU can and should to better than this. Haley wont be much better than Lane IMO. Two peas in a Pod. What the F does a guy that played LB in college and coached mostly LB's, know about coaching the DL? If you never played the position, how can you coach it really well? We all know why he's REALLY going to be hired.......

I agree, you can't truly know anything about coaching if you didn't play that position, or even football.
Signed,
Mike Leach

I guess your sig implies you only have knowledge of how the band performs and who they hire, correct. Not hating, but your logic does not really hold water. I guess your band director played all instruments?
All I say is give the guy an honest chance. If someone who is an expert (CLM, Lovie Smith, etc) trusted him to coach the DL then maybe we should hold our DUMB arse comments to ourselves until this guess shows us what he has.

I'm hoping Kiffin is a genius in that mold as well...being the Raiders coach for 3 seconds before granny fired him for not just winning baby. Go Vols!!!

You have my vote for dumbest post of the year. Everyone on this board is now a little dumber because of your post. Congrats

The Saints are happy to be rid of Ed O, but we all wanted him.

It's really not that hard to recruit at LSU right now.
