New Deuce?
Posted by klew5 on 12/14/08 at 3:22 pm00
I know there will never be another Deuce McAllister, but it looks like Pierre Thomas is poised to be the next beloved blue collar Saints star and a real good every down back.

Still need a 3rd or 4th and 1 back......not Brandon Jacobs....too expensive. Maybe Michael Bush from Oakland if he becomes available. Trade Reggie Bush to Oakland for Michael Huff and Michael Bush. Would help solve two problems in a safety and power back. I know Huff is not great but an upgrade over Bullocks for sure.

He'll get better in short yardage the more carries he gets under his belt. Reggie can thrive with help from Pierre (getting us a good down and distance to open up playbook) and we should be able to get a good DB in the draft.

Michael Bush kinda sucks IMO
but we should be able to get him fairly cheap I'd imagine with Fargas and DMac there

I agree that Michael Bush would be horrible as a feature back but at 6-1 245 lbs he can handle the short yardage assignments better than Karney, McAllister, Thomas or Bush. The Raiders could use an influx of enthusiasm in thier organization. I still say the trade above would benefit both teams.

Thomas is an undrafted 3rd string NFL RB for a reason. He will not be a part of a difference-making change. We need far better. We need someone to regain what Deuce brought to the table a few years ago.
You people HAVE GOT TO STOP settling for inferiority and mediocrity. The power run attack was not addressed this year. If it's not addressed again next year we will be .500 at best, AGAIN.

huh? who cares what round he was drafted in... with this body of work as a starter I will take it all day long
8 tds in the last 5 games. dude is unreal.
over the last 5 games since he took over as the main guy, (even including the payton brain fart in tampa) he has:
80 rushes 398 yards for a 4.97 ypc, 16 receptions for 176 yards for a 11.0 ypr, and 8 tds, 5 rushing and 3 receiving.

And Colston was a 7th round draft pick for a reason too right?
Thomas wasn't drafted and Reggie was the 2nd pick in the entire draft, and look who is playing better. Please explain how where you were drafted means anything 3 years later.
Also, what more do you want Thomas to do? Have you seen the way he's performed the last 5 games? You're crazy if you think we can just grab any RB and have him come here and put up those kinds of numbers.

What would it take for Jacobs and Bush to be in the same rotation?

The Giants being stupid enough trade us their 1st round pick for him. No way both are in Black and Gold.

WRONG. He's an undrafted starting NFL RB. It takes time to supplant the organizations best alltime running back and golden child.

You guys are kidding yourselves (and me) if you think Pierre Thomas is the guy we need at RB to take us to the Super Bowl. Just STOP it!
Actually, he perfect for this offense. He can pass block, catch, has speed, and gets the extra yard. We could use a power back and a better oline to compliment him though. The fact that he was undrafted is irrelevant.
