Nail in tire's sidewall

I noticed one of my tires was slowly losing pressure.

After inspection, I found a finish nail lodged in the sidewall.

Sucks that the tire only has 16,000 miles on it.

Damn. That sucks. I don't think the plugs work too well in the sidewall. Might be worth a shot. They are really cheap.

Plug it, but move the tire to the rear axle in case you have a blowout

You're not supposed to, but you can without any problems

do not attempt to drive on a side plugged tire. this is VERY dangerous. if you find a gas station that will do this, they are nuts.

What if you've got one on the corner? Right on the edge of the tread... I was thinkng about patching mine.

That's what I was thinking... With all the flex in the sidewall, I don't see a patch holding up. One of my friends said i should put a tube in it. Do they still do that?

What's the worse case scenario if it fails? It loses air again, or a blowout?

pretty easy to determine the soft wall from the tread wall. if it is on the "top" of the corner of the tread wall you should be ok. if it is below the tread wall in the soft wall, it will not be able to be plugged/patched.

Someone stuck it in there, you don't pick up a nail in the sidewall by driving over it.
