Am I the only one that sees him quickly wearing out his welcome in N.O.? His teams have drastically underachieved the last 2 years and he consistently makes stupid calls. I'm sure he won't be gone after this year but I've got a sneaking suspicion that if his new DC (which he sure as hell better find) doesn't improve the defense next year and get us at least 10 wins, SP will be done with in N.O.

Blaming the kicking game and defense right now...not mentioning his stupid a** playcalling at times...

"I just know the coverage we were in, the receiver shouldn't be behind us...clearly."

Well, I can't argue with that...

Wow...first time I ever heard a coach take one question and leave.

This is not going well, y'all. This is like Haslett all over again--great first year and then all downhill--I fear.

frick I hope not. He should be on thin ice right now. If you told me were headed back towards 3-13 seasons, I'd believe it.

Honest Analysis:

He would be a very good OC somewhere as long as he didnt have to make decisions on personal or worry about a defense in general. He is a Gary Crowton, Norv Turner, Charlie Wies, etc... all are excellent OC's but are a little out of there league when they become head coaches.

So, what's this? 7 losses by a total of 4 points? Definitely poor coaching.

or if he didn't have to call plays

as a coordinator or higher, the farthest a team that SP Was a member of the coaching staftt on went was the super bowl...only after fassell stripped him of his playcalling duties and took over

He's not wrong about the kicking game... what was their average starting field position... had to be at least the 35 from what I saw.

That's why I think defensive coaches make better head coaches: Bill Bellichick, Bill Cowher, Jeff Fisher, and Tony Dungy are all great examples of this. If Payton's guilty of anything is always trying to make the "genius" call on fourth down. I'm so sick of the Devery end around that has maybe worked twice but Payton uses on a regular basis. I know it didn't factor in tonight but it is a prime example when he gets too cute.

2 of the losses were on kicking game.

2 were on not being able to get first down running w/ 1 yard to go.

Poor defense is the largest culprit in other losses, but Payton has made some questionable calls when game is on the line. Throughout the game he calls a great game.

He can be very successful as head coach, but must run the ball more (as they have in last 3 games) and get a defense.

sean payton will be ok once he gets a defense and learns that the closest path to a 1st down on 3rd and 1 is straight up the gut and not a fricking pitch 5 yards back
