I now it would be a long shot for him to come in and be a leader of the team as a freshman. However, it seems the kid has that type of character.

Herb Tyler did it. Hodson also in his early years at LSU until the Heisman talk started.

Nope, there's no way he can.

Seriously people, why do we have to post unanswerable questions on here every single day about the same people? You dont HAVE to start new threads.

I think he has what it takes because he seems to be way beyond his years!

Started thread because this years team did not have any leadership. Shepard will be enrolling early and maybe could earn the respect of the players through the spring practices.

Tebow wasn't even a starter as a freshman.

Tebow didn't start, but Florida would not have won the NC without him. You could also tell the players respected him although he was only a Freshman.

I'm very impressed with Jordan Jefferson. But, Shepard has the kind of talent that won't likely see much bench time. I am not sure what his role will be.

Jefferson could certainly be our starter at QB next 2 or 3 years. I've heard Shepard has stated he would be willing to play wherever LSU needs him. We'll see when he gets here. He doesn't have to start at QB to be a leader. It will be an interesting battle next Spring. Already looking forward to next year. Go Tigers.

he seems like he can. LSU has no leaders, so why not him?

I hardly think that any reasonable person would argue that a true freshman who sees 8-10 snaps a game is not a team leader. He may be respected, but it's hard to lead the team from the sidelines. Unless you are a coach.

Shep is gonna be good, really good, and I pray that he offers some leadership, but to expect that to happen is a bit absurd.

Tebow did the arm flap thing after he would pick up 3 yards though. He was clearly a leader.

From all the posts and articles he seems to be a natural leader. He'll have to prove himself to the older players... but I feel he can.
