If we lose Friday will those of you with your canned excuses (listed below) feel the same way about the current status of this years team.

I do not believe we should get rid of Miles but I do feel this team has been very disappointing and I am worried about next year as well. I continue to see the same responses each week after losses/ Troy debacle/ games where we are unable to put away inferior opponents. Will your opinions change if we lose or do you feel the responses below justify the 7-5 season? I am just curious as to when your viewpoint will change.

Will you continue to say
-What did you expect with a RS Freshmen/ Freshmen/ 4th string-QB
-I was very optomistic and even predicted 3-4 losses
-You can not expect us to win the NC every year. Every program needs time to rebuild
-It is tough with new DC's
-We lost a lot of senior leadership last year
-We were just flat/ not excited to play
-We suck at day games on CBS
-Where you around for Hallman years. We would have loved 7-5

These excuses usually aren't really bad.

These get under my skin like a chigger.

What is the difference between a loss to Arkansas and the one to Ole Miss(at home), or the near loss to Troy at home?
Everyone knows this team is bad and has no confidence. Do you have a point?

Give Miles another year to fix the problem. That is the only answer right now.

Your last excuse is my favorite. I love it when people justify mediocrity by comparing it to sheer incompetence.

It's like arguing that a "C" is acceptable because it isn't an "F."

The above is in no way meant to say that I don't support the Tigers or the current staff. I just see two different schools of thought on here often. One that argues we are on the brink of armageddon if we are only up by 3 touchdowns against Tulane and one that would support everyone
if we were losing 31-3 to Troy and were 0-11.

I am just curious to know at what point the people that have made excuses for this team will change their mind and say they were extremely disappointed with this effort.

My opinion went south on this team when we just couldn't stop MSU. I understand the offensive problems but not the defensive.

Yep.
We knew the offense would struggle and it has been so bad at qb, that I think it has just torn the whole offense apart.

Defense was supposed to have been great, especially at the line.

What if we win Friday? Can we exhale and roll into bowl season with a smile? I know we all seem a little disappointed, but I will never give up on LSU football.

What 2007 had and 2008 doesn't have are:
1. Senior QB
2. Team leaders
3. Experienced CBs
4. Game-Day DC
5. Caught all the breaks (in LSU's games and other games)

We can debate how this year will help/hurt 2009, but each one of the above have to change for 2009 to be successful (relative to this decade anyway):
1. There will be experience at QB (Lee, Jefferson, Hatch with a new wrinkle in Sheppard)
2. Someone (player) has to step up next year and be the vocal leader, the spokesman for LSU
3. All CBs will return plus the safeties; should not be a big issue
4. I have mixed feelings about the DCs; not sure if they should stay or go; if they stay, they'll have 2008 to build on; if they go, an experienced DC will come in and run shop
5. LSU has to catch more breaks next year than this year

Whatever happens, I'll be there each game next year.

As I have said I have talked with several friends and each person's opinion has changed at different stages during the season. Some wanted to fire Miles early on and others thought that notion was ridiculous until after the Ole Miss game. Others agree that he needs another year.

I just can see the reason for concern regarding our program. Things have been so good for a while that is has been a long time since I thought we were going to lose a game. I have had that expectation many times this year. We are returning the same cast of characters minus some very good seniors or juniors that may leave. Should our expecatation be better for next year?

Does that mean that people who critique this team are not fans or is it Ok to be concerned as long as you still support your team by going to games/ watching etc.

Give him one more year. Again, it's not that we lost, it's HOW we lost.
Also

We're not even mediocre. One year and everything collapses. It says alot about coaching. I'm sick of the same old coach speak.
