He was verging on impossible to listen to in the first half last night.

What's his deal? It's almost as if he can wait for the next LSU F'up.

He's off the wagon again. This season's been tough on him.

I started a thread on the scoreboard last night about how he was sounding like Bob Uecker from Major League

I don't get people saying he's negative. He's very pro-LSU.
Him just not being a good play by play man is what makes him so hard to listen to.

Nothing wrong with being objective.

My issue is, he just gives the impression he's always "expecting" the next LSU mistake or inability to execute.

WTF did you expect.?

I was expecting it to be more like 86,572 fans.

+1

I listened to him for the first time for the Tulane game and he sounded literally DISGUSTED everytime Lee walked out on the field instead of Jefferson. It was terrible. He sounded glad when Lee threw the pick six because he had been bashing him all game.

Same exact thing last night. He is sounding like one of the rantards on the Score Board when he's supposed to be calling the game like a professional.

I've never listened to him before this year, but I was shocked at how spiteful he sounded.

I think what made me the most angry was at some point in the 3rd quarter during the broadcast, Doug started laughing. Not sure what he was laughing at, but it pissed me off.

It brought to mind visions of Aaron Brooks laughing on the Saints sideline after he turned the ball over, and I saw fire!

I wasn't able to watch the game so I listened to the majority of the game on the radio and Hawthorne was horrible... He said the Chad Jones interception was actually intercepted by Phelan Jones, so when I read the stats this morning I thought it was a typo by the newspaper. There were many other times that I was so lost I had no idea what was going on and had to wait a few minutes to find out exactly what happened.

There is NOTHING wrong with the way Hawthorne does his play-by-play or who he thinks made a huge catch!!!

Sincerely,

He's an average broadcaster at best. Why would you expect anything else?

Except Aaron Brooks was a player--Doug is not. Very big difference. And I laughed at the pick-6 myself. That shite has gotten hilarious.

I used to love listening to him, but he has gotten bad the past few years. There were games last year that we were winning comfortably, and to hear him call the game you'd think we were losing. If the opposing qb makes a great throw to a well covered receiver, Hawthorne calls the receiver wide open. Although this year, the receiver is usually wide open.
