The lead of the EA Testing Center recently contacted TigerDroppings.com to see if he could promote the new center and its opportunities, and discuss ways for TD.com users to get info on upcoming releases and other video game info. He will be posting under the name "EA NATC", which stands for EA North American Test Center. Here is some info he sent us today:

Electronic Arts has opened a Testing Center right here in Baton Rouge! This is a first of its kind testing center which has created many opportunities in the area. We are looking for energetic and qualified people to come in and be Video Game Testers at the North American Test Center, located on LSU South Campus. At the North American Test Center we will be testing a wide variety of games from multiple genres (EA SPORTS, EA GAMES, EA Casual, and The Sims). These will include our yearly sports games, our casual games that are fun to pick up and play, and even a few PC titles that we hope to get in the near future.
This is a new opportunity for both part time, 18 to 36 hours per week, and full time positions. You must be 17 years of age with a High school diploma, or equivalent. We are looking to expand in the near future with upwards of 200 jobs being created.
Be sure to check out our MySpace profile, LINK , to learn more about the job and how to apply. Be sure to leave us a comment, we are always excited to meet new people.

That sounds like a pretty sweet gig if you're a college student looking for some part time hours.

Thank you so much for posting this up.
Please post up any questions you guys might have about the job. Also we will be cruising the boards to help answer any questions you guys have about games were working on.
Your right DK, this is a great job for a college student but we are also looking for full time testers as well.
EDIT:
Since I will be the main one posting on this account I figure its best to introduce myself. My name is Jackson and ive been with EA for almost 5 years now. I started as a QA tester at our Tiburon Studio in Orlando FL. I quickly moved up into management and have been a QA Project Lead for almost 4 years now. Ive worked on titles such as NCAA Football, Madden, NASCAR, Fight Night, SimCity, Time Splitters, Army of Two, NCAA Baseball, and others.
I moved out here to Baton Rouge just before Gustav and have loved every moment of it. If you see us out dont hesitate to come up and introduce yourself, im always down to discuss sports, games, cars, whatever.
You may see some other employees posting on here from time to time, but generally it will be me.

If you don't mind me asking, how much would pay be for a senior at LSU? i already have a job that i'm not interested in quitting (actually it's not even an option) but i'd be interested in this, for sure!

We're sorry. The position you are attempting to submit your resume to is no longer open. "

The starting pay for a Tester is $7.50 an hour. Full time testers have the opportunity for OT as well.
Thank you for letting us know about the link, Ill be sure to get it fixed when I get into the office.
EDIT: I corrected the link, if you are still having issues applying please let me know.
In reference to Grandmas Boy, which we get asked about all the time. There are many parts that are accurate, there are also many parts that are not even close. The job is fun, and the people get along really well. However we don't take our work home, and our programmers do not try to camouflage themselves into the wall

I can't get to MySpace from here, but I will certainly check out that link when I get home later. I've been looking for an opportunity to relocate for work from NO to BR for a while since my wife is in grad school in BR. I've been playing games (including EA games) since the days of Racing Destruction Set on the C64.

ea natc:
does this mean ea is going to attempt to put out a product that isn't, seemingly, intentionally flawed?

We actually have two good blog posts about this subject on our MySpace page. MySpace Blog
Most people think that the testers are soley responsible for any bugs remaining in games. However most of the time the bugs are found before ship and many other factors contribute to them remaining in the game at ship. Bugs are released in every bit of software that hits the market (games, computer OS, cell phones, cable boxes, etc).

Well do you have any fulltime positions available for college grads outside testing?

Grandma's Boy = awesomeness wrapped in bacon covered in steak sauce.
PS, I have a few things I need to get off my chest about Madden.

yeah...
but if my cell phone has a bug its still usable. hell, even vista for all ts flaws is palatable.
hopefully ea will earn its sales through making even a marginally decent game rather than buying the rights to say, errr, for example THE NFL and robbing the public of a chance to play a well produced football game. oh well, thank god for nfl 2k5 + roster update.
pardon my "going off" its just my opinion...
that a few million people agree with.

Re Non-testing Jobs:
Currently we are only a testing center, so no development, marketing, art jobs are housed here. You are more than welcome to check out the EA Jobs page at www.ea.com to look for other jobs at other studios. There is a chance that in the future we could bring non-testing jobs here.
Re AJF:
Send me an e-mail with what you got on Madden, ill forward it off to the right people. More than likely your issues are not something we have any control over here at the Test Center. However, I would still like to hear your concerns.
Re: Harper
I understand your concerns, your obviously not the first to bring them up. Which game or games have you seen released that you have personal experience with that have not been "palatable"? Im not familiar with any titles that we have released that have been unplayable to a general audience.

I didn't know you were planning on eating your games.
And yes, I Googled what it meant.

EA NATC:
I'm extremely interested in the position by I'm not moving to Baton Rouge until January. do you think there will be job openings for tester available at that time? Should i apply now for january or wait? I would love to work now but gas would kill me driving from hammond.
