Wisconsin's band has been suspended and won't play at Saturday's home game against Ohio State due to allegations of hazing, alcohol abuse and sexual misconduct.

Badger Band Suspended

That would suck if the TigerBand wasn't playing at a big home game. On the other hand, is it any real surprise that college kids drink and are horny??? Who gives a shite unless the band director and staff are sexually abusing their students, then we might have a problem.

Every since American Pie if you hear anything about "sex and band members" you have to think about the flute incident...

I would think it's definitely an advantage for Ohio State. The band is a big part of college home field advantage, keeping the crowd jacked up and involved throughout the entire game.

I don't know about Wisconsin and how active their band is during the game, but I'd venture to say the band combined with the crowd is at least worth 7 points at LSU home games.

This is weak by Wisconsin, especially for a school that claims to be the best party school in the country. Hell, Stanford's band has done way worse shite than that, including burning down a building on campus, and nothing has happened to them

Damn, I guess they will be closing the college down pretty soon.

to Golden Band. Hands down best band to get the crowd hyped up. I'm so glad we have our own songs with history and tradition intertwined.

Instead of the Star Wars Imperial March music for defensive stops, we play Chinese Bandits.

Instead of playing Fight On or Rocky Top 50,000 times during a game, they play "Hold that Tiger" only after the 4th qtr during timeouts (except for last year's Florida game ( Hold that Tiger during UF game), so that the song is special and gets the crowd even more beserk during a key moment of the game.

What exactly is sexual misconduct? If it involves farm animals or M/M interaction, then they deserved to be suspended, otherwise...

Trying to evaluate whether we could have been suspended for every game if they judged the GBFTL that way when I was a playah.

A couple of things I've considered since reading that article.
1. Some of the behavior that took place when I was in Tiger Band would have caused us to have been suspended if applied now. I do know that the current members are much better behaved than we were. We had the banishment of not being allowed to go to Bama in 86 because of the destruction of a hotel by band members in 84. There was also a lot of boorish behavior and more alcohol abuse than you can imagine. Nothing like being on a band trip and getting up to take a shower to find one of your roommates in the tub covered in his own vomit. Better yet, I was awoken in the middle of the night by two others rolling on top of me as they were having sex in the bed when I was asleep. Yes - I'm a sound sleeper.

Now, back to my points. We live in a different time and Wisconsin is in Madison, one of the most PC places in the country. I think it's a little extreme to punish the entire band for this as it also is punishing the entire university and the fans.

i'd think that the flag girls would be a lot more fun than the golden girls because they wouldn't be as stuck-up.....
