So my BIL has a zastava underfolder model ak...he wants to change the stock. Can this be done or no? I have Googled a bit and cant get a clear answer.

No, unless you want awkward holes in the side. Get a new reciever to convert if he wants to do that. Just switch the parts from the zastava onto a new reciever and buy a stock. Nodak Spud runs about $100-120 and they are good american recievers. Or he could buy a new AK.
